Crossroads GPS spending on congressional races

Political committee American Crossroads also has sibling, Crossroads GPS. It’s set up in such a way that it can keep its donors anonymous – and it’s spending some of that donated money this summer. Ads are hitting television, cable and the internet with targets including Democrats in both houses of the US Congress.

According to reports, GPS is planning to spend $20M this summer, and the current buy will amount to $7M. Most of it — $5.6M – will be directed at five incumbent senators, and the rest will be split among 10 incumbents in the House.

The ads focus on debt and stimulus, but avoid getting into the current Capitol Hill strife being generated by the debt ceiling issue.

The five senators targeted by the campaign include:
* Bill Nelson (D-FL)
* Claire McCaskill (D-MO)
* Jon Tester (D-MT)
* Ben Nelson (D-NE)
* Sherrod Brown (D-OH)

The ten representatives include:
* Tim Bishop (D-NY)
* Leonard Boswell (D-IA)
* Jerry Costello (D-IL)
* Lois Capps (D-CA)
* Ben Chandler (D-KY)
* Mike Ross (D-AR)
* Jim Matheson (D-UT)
* Kurt Schrader (D-OR)
* Heath Shuler (D-NC)
* Bill Owens (D-NY)
