The sale of WXCO-AM in Wausau WI will result in a major employment change for Steven Resnick. He’ll be going from GM at a crosstown AM-FM combo to owner of WXCO. The seller is Seehafer Broadcasting Corporation. That’s not where Resnick is working – he’s at Quicksilver’s WMZK-FM & WJMT-AM. He says he’ll resign from that gig before taking over WXCO. The price is $250K.
RBR/TVBR observation: Much has changed at WXCO since our Executive Editor, Jack Messmer, worked there. Sports has replaced Country and there are a lot of new FMs competing in the market. But the call letters haven’t changed. Resnick is living the dream – a GM buying his own station. We wish him well.
