Cruise line debuts Carnival Magic with radio and TV elements

You don’t always have to run a standard flight of spot advertisements to get exposure for something on broadcast media. The vacation travel specialists at Carnival are making the US debut of their newest ship memorable with a Maroon 5 performance which includes television and radio elements.

The new ship, Carnival Magic, has been operating in Europe since last May, but is now planning to come to the United States and to its permanent home of Galveston TX. It is expected to arrive 11/13/11, at which point a roster of invited guests will be treated to the Maroon 5 concert.

There are various ways to get tickets to the event, including opportunities for Texans who are Carnival fans on Facebook. The radio connection is also Texas-based – select Texas radio stations will be tapped to give away tickets to the event.

The TV connection comes via Maroon 5 itself – the band’s front man, Adam Levine, has another high profile gig. He’s a coach on NBC reality talent contest “The Voice.” Levine commented, “We’ve played every kind of venue imaginable across the world, but we’ve never helped to launch a new cruise ship. We’re excited to work with Carnival and to be part of the Carnival Magic celebration for fans in Texas.”

RBR-TVBR observation: Wouldn’t you have second thoughts booking passage on a ship being promoted by a band called “Maroon”? Unless, of course, your name is Gilligan, in which case it might be an excellent career move.
