The man who presently oversees several TEGNA stations in Texas is expanding his role by taking on the President/GM position of an ABC affiliate along the Gulf Coast.

VP Bruce Cummings “expands his role” with assumption of day-to-day oversight of KIII-3 in Corpus Christi, Tex.

The addition of the station makes him a Texas Gulf Coast lead for TEGNA, as he presently overseas KBMT-TV and KJAC-TV in Beaumont, where he has held the President/GM position; KCEN-TV in Waco-Temple-Kileen; KAGS-TV in Bryan-College Station; KYTX-TV in Tyler-Longview; KIDY-TV in San Angelo; and KXVA-TV in Abilene.

“For more than two decades, Bruce has led stations by promoting an audience-first approach and commitment to community,” said TEGNA EVP/Media Operations Peter Diaz. “He will continue to do that in Corpus Christi and build on KIII’s already strong position in the community.”

Cummings took local leadership of KBMT in 2012 and was named a VP in 2017. Before joining KBMT, Cummings spent more than 20 years at KULR-TV in Billings, Mont., including the last 15 as GM.

Cummings has also held several sales positions.
