Cumulus expanding SweetJack in nine markets

Cumulus’ group-buying, daily deals site SweetJack.com has launched in nine additional markets nationwide, its single largest expansion to date at the now 570-station group. Now in a total of 15 cities, SweetJack uses the existing sales force in place at the stations. Each market has its own dedicated SweetJack site.

“Radio stations are the primary means for people to learn about what’s going on in their communities,” said David Lubell, VP of Social Commerce. “We own the most popular radio stations and massive email lists, providing the broadest reach and the loudest mouth in town for our merchants – and the best deals for our listeners.”

The new stations and markets:

Montgomery, AL: News Radio 1440, Sports Radio 740, Mix 103, AM 950, Y 102, I-92 WLWI and 95.1 The Fox.

Hudson Valley, NY: 101.5 WPDH & 106.1 WPDA Sullivan County, The New Rock Alternative, 92.7/96.9 WRRV, Hudson Valley Country, 94.3/97.3 THE WOLF, The Best Music Mix, Mix 97.7, The Kingston Station, 1490 WKNY and The Hudson Valley True Oldies Channel, AM 1340 WALL & AM 1390 WEOK.

Wilmington, NC: Double Q 101 Cape Fear’s Country Leader, 102 .7 GNI Today’s Hits and Yesterday’s Favorites, 94.5 The Hawk The Port City’s Classic Hits, Coast 97.3 Today’s # 1 Hip Hop and R&B and 80 AM WAAV The Wave Talk, News & Sports.

RBR-TVBR observation: CC Radio recently struck a deal with LivingSocial for daily deals nationwide on more than 500 stations in 90 markets. LivingSocial will handle sales and fulfillment. We think having the Cumulus AEs present both daily deals options from SweetJack and ad inventory in one visit to a client may be less risky than farming part of that responsibility out to an outside party.
