Cumulus’ new translator 102.5 K273BZ Bonner Springs, KS debuted in the market 2/14 with “Funny 102.5.” The station, an affiliate of 24/7 Comedy Radio Network’s all-Comedy format, has substantial coverage of the market with 250 watts way up at 1,152 feet. KCKN-AM in that market had the format up until 2005, until it switched to Regional Mexican “La Gran D.”

Funny 102.5 (www.funny1025.com) features continuous stand-up comedy from the likes of Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Dane Cook, Wanda Sykes, Jeff Foxworthy and others. In addition, it will feature laughs from touring comics who visit local comedy stages in Kansas City.

Said Cumulus KC Media Operations Manager: “Cumulus delivered one big Funny Valentine to everyone in KC today, the gift of laughter. Pass it on.”

Donna Baker, Cumulus Media Market Manager added, “The station is just what the name says…Funny. Laughter is the best medicine and we have a daily dose ready for KC, 24/7, right here at 102.5 FM.”

This is the second translator launched by Cumulus/KC, joining Active Rock “103.7 The Dam” K279BI.

24/7 Comedy Radio, launched last September, is produced by the Donkey Comedy Network and distributed via Citadel Media. We know of one other full-time affiliate, KFNY-AM Riverside, CA.

RBR-TVBR observation: There is speculation out there that the station is stunting into a potential simulcast of sister station News Talk 710 KCMO in that market. But with the promise of adding content from local comedy clubs, they just might be making a go of this.
