Cumulus announces the return of Modern Rock W264AK 100.7 The Zone and the move of Mark Benson to 94.5 Classic Rock WXKR-FM in the market. Cumulus says “due to popular demand” it will return The Zone, replacing the short lived Top 40 100.7 the Vibe.
The announcement comes shortly after Cumulus announced earlier this week the move the Andrew Z in the Morning show from 100.7 The Vibe to Hot AC WWWM-FM Star 105.5; replacing Tim & Jeff in the Morning, reports WNWO.
The Zone will deliver 90’s alternative and new rock to listeners and also welcome Compass Media Networks’ Free Beer and Hot Wings Show, currently being aired on WXKR. Mark Benson, a 30 year radio veteran, will take over mornings on WXKR replacing the Free Beer and Hot Wings Show.
“Mark Benson is a great personality and friend to our WXKR frequent rockers.” said Dan McClintock, PD. “At the same time we also have a special opportunity to re- launch The Zone by moving Free Beer and Hot Wings and their unique show to 100.7 FM. It’s a great combination with both shows complementing each other.”
Listeners can tune into Mark Benson on WXKR and the Free Beer and Hot wings show starting Monday, 3/19.
