Cumulus taps Dennis Green from Westwood; Krasny replaces

Cumulus Media’s impending acquisition of Citadel includes its syndication and network arm Citadel Media. With last week’s announcement that that Dial-Global and Westwood One will merge, and Dial-Global management being in control of the combined entity, Westwood One EVP Affiliate Sales Dennis Green, pictured, may have decided a move beforehand might be in order, rather than gambling on what his role would be after the merger.

Therefore, Green, after 15 years at Westwood, informed the company 8/10 that he’s leaving for basically the same role at Citadel Media: SVP of Affiliate Sales and Broadcast Operations. Green will assume his new role upon Cumulus’s closing of Citadel Broadcasting.

Throughout his career, Green has successfully partnered with a slew of brands and programs like NFL, NCAA, CBS, NBC, MTV, Dennis Miller and Bill O’Reilly. In addition, he is a member of the Steering Committee for the National Radio Hall of Fame in Chicago.

As Cumulus prepares to close on the previously announced acquisition of Citadel Media, it will be announcing additional hires in the weeks to come.

Westwood One’s Chief Marketing Officer Chris Miller tells RBR-TVBR this is a good opportunity for Dennis to work directly with radio stations and they wish him all the best.

Meanwhile, Westwood One announced Max Krasny has been named SVP/GM Entertainment Division and Affiliate Sales, leading affiliate sales efforts for all Westwood One programming, as well as continue to oversee the company’s entertainment properties and events such as The Billy Bush Show, Rocsi on the Radio, the GRAMMY Awards and MTV Networks partnership. He will be based in LA and report directly to Westwood One President Rod Sherwood.

“Since taking the reins five years ago, Max built Westwood One’s entertainment division through innovative program development and important partnerships,” said Sherwood. “His knowledge of the business, and solid reputation with both our affiliate and programming partners, will help Westwood One grow our distribution and continue to provide excellent service to our affiliate partners.”

Krasny has been with Westwood One for nearly 15 years and has had integral roles in production, affiliate sales, advertising sales and programming.  In 2006, Krasny took responsibility for the Entertainment Division, overseeing all programming, and is closely involved with advertising and affiliate sales for Music and Entertainment properties.

Westwood One’s Miller says this is a seamless transition for Westwood One: “Max Krasny ran affiliate sales for the Entertainment Division for five years and has had key jobs [at the company] for 15 years. He’s well steeped in our business and well-respected in our industry.”
