“LATE SHOW” WINS IN VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54


“The Late Late Show” Places First in Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54

CBS’s LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN topped “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” in viewers and adults 25-54 and THE LATE LATE SHOW with CRAIG FERGUSON placed first against “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” in viewers, adults 18-49 (tie) and adults 25-54, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Oct. 30.

LATE SHOW posted a 2.8/07 in households with an average of 4.00m viewers,  1.3/05 in adults 25-54 and 0.9/04 in adults 18-49. 
 
LATE SHOW beat “The Tonight Show” in households by +56% (vs. 1.8/04), viewers by +64% (vs. 2.44m) and adults 25-54 by +18% (vs. 1.1/04).
 
Season-to-date, LATE SHOW improved competitive position against “The Tonight Show” compared to last year.  CBS leads NBC by +72% in households this season (3.1/08 vs. 1.8/05) compared to trailing by -15% last year (2.8/07 vs. 3.3/08).  In viewers, LATE SHOW has a +73% advantage (4.36m vs. 2.52m) compared to trailing by -16% last year (3.95m vs. 4.73m).  In adults 25-54, LATE SHOW enjoys a +27% advantage in 2009 (1.4/06 vs. 1.1/05) compared to -13% in 2008 (1.4/06 from 1.6/06).  In adults 18-49, LATE SHOW has a +10% lead (1.1/04 vs. 1.0/04) compared -15% (1.1/05 vs. 1.3/05) a year ago. 
 
THE LATE LATE SHOW posted a 1.3/05 in households with 1.83m viewers, 0.6/03 in adults 18-49, 0.7/04 in adults 25-54 and 0.4/03 in adults 18-34.
 
LATE LATE SHOW beat “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” in households (vs. 1.0/04, +30%), viewers (vs. 1.31m, +40%), adults 25-54 (vs. 0.6/03, +17%) and tied in adults 18-49 (0.6/03, each).  LATE LATE SHOW also beat “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in viewers (vs. 1.70m, +8%), adults 25-54 (vs. 0.6/03, +17%), adults 18-49 (vs. 0.5/03, +20%) and tied in both households (1.3/05 vs. 1.3/04) and adults 18-34 (0.4/03 vs. 0.4/02).

Season-to-date, LATE LATE SHOW has improved its competitive position against “Late Night” compared to last year.  CBS leads NBC by +36% in households this season (1.5/05 vs. 1.1/04) compared to being tied last season (1.4/05, each with Conan O’Brien hosting).  LATE LATE SHOW has a +40% advantage in viewers (1.96m vs. 1.40m) compared to trailing by -2% last year (1.85m vs. 1.89m).  In adults 18-49, LATE LATE SHOW and “Late Night” are tied (0.6/04, each).  In 2008, CBS trailed NBC by -14% in adults 18-49 (0.6/03 vs. 0.7/04).  In adults 25-54, the programs were tied in both years.
