Delta Media adds to Lafayette LA-area group

Charles Chatelain has both television and radio properties in and around Lafayette LA, and now his Delta Media is adding yet another station. And there is absolutely no need to pay attention to local ownership caps – they don’t apply to low power facilities such as the one Delta is buying – KDCG-CD.

The Channel 22 station is licensed to Opelousas LA, bringing Retro Television and some local programming to the people in the area. The key to value foe a low power is a presence on local MVPDs, which is not a right they can claim. KDCG brings this value to the table, however, holding a slot on Cox, Charter, Allen Cable and Suddenlink MVPD outlets.

The price reflects that — $430K cash, going to seller Acadia Cable Advertising Inc.

Delta owns several other properties in the area, including full-power KLWB-TV New Iberia LA, low power KXKW-LP, which is said to provide a weather map and a simulcast of Delta’s KSLO-FM Simmesport LA. Also in the mix is KSLO-AM, like KDCG licensed to Opelousas, and KLWB-FM Canreco LA.
