From November 1992 to December 2003, Derek Dalton was a key member of the Tribune Broadcasting leadership team. Starting as an Account Executive and, later, as NSM for WGN-9 in Chicago’s “Superstation” national feed, Dalton went on to a five-year tenure as Director of Sales for Tribune. From March 2000, he held the role of VP/GM of KWGN-2 in Denver for Tribune.

Now, Dalton is back in Chicago. But, he’s not returning to Tribune … and he’s joining a much different Channel 2.

Dalton has just accepted the role of President/GM for CBS O&O WBBM-2 in Chicago.

He reports to CBS Television Stations President Peter Dunn, and returns to the Windy City after serving for the past seven years at rejuvenated NBC affiliate WHEC-10 in Rochester, N.Y., a Hubbard Broadcasting station.

Dalton began his career as a sales executive at WLVI-56 in Boston, and after KWGN served as VP/GM of KGTV-10 and KZSD-41 in San Diego.

“Derek comes to us with a great reputation and track record of success everywhere he has worked,” said Dunn. “We look forward to having him lead the evolution of WBBM as it continues to deliver premium content via all of our broadcast and digital platforms.”

Dalton added, “It’s a thrill for me and my family to return to Chicago and have the opportunity to contribute to the future success of WBBM. I am excited to make this move and work with my new colleagues at the station, our clients and community partners.”
