Dick Purtan now podcasting

Legendary Detroit radio personality and Hall of Fame broadcaster Dick Purtan announced his retirement from CBS Radio Detroit’s 104.3 WOMC in March, after 45 years on the air in Motown. Back then, he told RBR-TVBR he likely will not get back into radio (even SiriusXM) unless he could work it from home. Well, since last July that’s what he’s been doing, via half-hour podcasts. Yes, Purtan runs his own board.

Purtan and his co-podcasters, “Purtan’s People,” record his podcast weekly at his home. We didn’t hear any music, as was his forte for years—most lately Classic Hits at WOMC. He said people are asking if they’ll expand them to four hours long, five days a week–the same length of his previous stints on commercial radio. Not likely, he said.
