Does an owner of TV stations, a regional news network and two multicast networks need a Digital Product Management and Design team?

The answer is a yes for NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations.

The division of NBCUniversal that includes 38 NBC and Telemundo-owned stations, COZI TV and TeleXitos has tapped Daniel Alvarez as VP of Digital Product Management and Design.

Alvarez will be responsible for leading the division’s product and designs teams and creating innovative digital products for English and Spanish-speaking local audiences.

He reports to SVP/Digital Media Lora Dennis, who said, “Daniel has extensive experience building award-winning products that will resonate with English and Spanish-speaking audiences and strengthen our team. He will explore new ways to expand our stations’ digital footprint with products that allow our local audiences to receive their news, weather and sports information wherever they go.”

A digital product manager and expert with more than 14 years of experience in the mobile and internet industry, Alvarez joins the NBC and Telemundo Owned Stations group after working as Head of Product and Director of Product Management for HuffPost. At HuffPost he was responsible for overseeing the teams that designed and created new digital products and features, including HuffPost’s mobile app.

Before HuffPost, Alvarez was a principal and senior product manager at AOL. He also spent five years as product engineer for mobile products at Motorola.
