Dockins dives into debt deal

Fred Dockins, who has an interest in a Florida FM station, is picking up a five-station group in rural southeast Missouri. He’ll make a small cash deposit and pick up responsibility for the group’s liabilities.

The seller is Randolph Miller’s Southern Star Broadcasting of Missouri LLC. Dockins is picking up the group under the licensee name Dockins Broadcast Group LLC.

The stations include KPWB AM-FM Piedmont MO, KTNX-FM Arcadia MO, KYLS-AM Frederickton MO and KYLS-FM Ironton MO. All are located in unrated territory. In fact, there is no rated territory for miles around.

The quintet forms three distinct markets. KPWB AM-FM is an entirely self-contained old-fashioned AM-FM combo to the south of the other three stations. The contour of KYLS-FM sits between KYLS-AM and KTNX-FM, overlapping both (thus forming the other two markets) and creating an FM duopoly with the latter.

The cash deposit on the station will be $100, and Dockins will pick up a debt load with Trust One Bank of Memphis TN pegged at $1.7M.

Dockin’s Florida station is WFDZ-FM Perry, under a different licensee name. Perry is in unrated territory about 50 miles ESE of Tallahassee.
