Another retailer specializing in low-end product is going gangbusters. Family Dollar enjoyed a 14% boost in quarterly profits (its quarter ended 11/29/08), as low income shoppers made more trips to the company’s stores and spent more per visit. According to a Reuters report, the store joins other discounters Dollar Tree, Dollar General and of course Wal-Mart as members of the short list of companies prospering in troubled economic times.
