Back in October 2010, William McCutchen filed with the FCC to acquire a second FM in the Eureka-Arcata CA area. That station is KJNY-FM Ferndale CA, and according to brokerage Kalil & Co., the deal has made it to the finish line.

Mad River Radio is the licensee name McCutchen is using for the acquisition. He’ll be pairing the station up with KMDR-FM McKinleyville CA.

The seller is Redwood Broadcasting Company, headed by Pattison Christensen. Redwood will be active in the market, but as a tower company.

The value of the deal is $300K cash.

KJNY makes its home on 99.1 MHz with 6 kW at 1,716, and comes with a Eureka translator on 106.7 MHz. The station has been using a unique format that blends an eclectic mix of musical styles. It goes by the name of Jenny 99.1, and describes itself on its website, saying, “KJNY is a blend of hip-hop, R&B, Pop and Hot Country. You’ll find artists like Rascal Flats, Akon, Nelly Furtado, Nickelback and Gnarls Barkley back to back on one station.”
