Done deal in Idaho

According to broker of record Kalil & Co., the sale of a trio of Idaho radio stations is officially part of the record books. Former Bonneville executive Rich Mecham acquired the stations for his own relatively young group, Rich Broadcasting.

The seller is Pacific Empire, headed by Kurt Luchs. According to Kalil, the company remains active in the radio business with stations in Idaho and Oregon.

The value of the deal is $1.1M.

The stations, in the Pocatello-Idaho Falls market, include:
KRXK-AM Rexburg ID, 1230 kHz, with 1 kW-D/1 kW-N
KGTM-FM Rexburg ID, 98.1 MHz with 100 kW @ 637’
KBJX-FM Shelley ID, 106.3 MHz with 100 kW @ 194’

This was the second try to sell the stations – an earlier $1.5M deal failed to make it to the closing table.

Rich has three stations that put a primary contour over both towns – KID-AM, KID-FM, both Idaho Falls, and KPKY-FM Pocatello. Its other stations in the area, KLLP-FM Chubbock and KWIK-AM & KEGE-FM Pocatello are all Pocatello-oriented. The stations coming from Pacific Empire serve the Idaho Falls side of the market.
Pocatello-Idaho Falls is not rated by Arbitron, but is on the markets-served list of Eastlan.
