Dothan station merry-go-round spins again

The break up of a five station radio cluster in the Dothan AL market required four separate contracts to effectuate and had stations flying in all sorts of different directions. Now the buyer named on two of those contracts is signing off on one more, this time as a seller.

The seller is Southeast Alabama Broadcasters LLC, headed by Georgia Edmiston. The stations are WESP-FM, WLDA-FM, WJRL-FM and WDBT-FM.

Stepping up to buy them is Robert H. Holladay’s Alabama Media Inc. Holladay has other radio interests in Louisiana and Mississippi.

The price tag is $1.2M cash. An LMA was slated to begin 11/30/11.

Edmiston picked up WLFA and WJRR from Magic Broadcasting in one of the 2/8/11 deals. The price was $610K. She also paid $500K to get WESP and WDBT from Gulf South Communications.

Meanwhile, Gulf South acquired WTVY-FM and WKMX-FM in the priciest of the four deals, paying $1.03M. The final Magic sale was for $210K, and it sent WBKK-FM to Alabama Media Investments.

Gulf South principles include another Holladay – Clay Holladay and Ron Eubanks are listed as principals.

Here’s a rundown of the stations being acquired by Robert Holladay:
