Dueling DTV apps get a workout month

Four sets of television stations with mutually exclusive DT engineering applications have been given 30 days to come up with technical modifications or to reach a settlement agreement.


“Stations may resolve their mutual exclusivity with other stations in their group by means of engineering amendments or by interference consent agreements,” said the FCC. “Technical amendments submitted by stations must be minor, as defined by applicable rules, and must not create new mutual exclusivity or application conflict.” Applications submitted without a resolution will be dismissed. The parties have until 5/3/09 to get it done.

The station pairs involved are:

WCTE-DT Cookeville TN, Upper Cumberland PTV, PBS and WPXK-CT Knoxvile TN (Jellico TN), Ion Media, Ion

KLTV-DT Tyler TX (TylerLongview TX), Raycom, ABC and WFAA-DT Dallas –Fort Worth TX (Dallas TX), Belo, ABC

KCCO-DT KMinneapolis-St. Paul MN (Alexandria MN), CBS, CBS  and KJRR-DT Fargo ND-Moorhead MN (Jamestown ND), Red River, Fox

KLTL-DT Lake Charles LA, LA Public Broadcasting and KFDM-DT Beaumont-Port Arthur TX (Beaumont TX), Freedom Communications, CBS
