Dunkin’ Donuts runs radio, TV effort with Red Sox’ Pedroia

The Boston Herald reports Dustin Pedroia, the Red Sox second baseman and reigning American League Most Valuable Player, will star in a new Dunkin’ Donuts campaign for the Turbo Boost brand promotion.

Dunkin’ Donuts will offer customers a free Turbo shot with all iced coffee purchases through June 2 at participating shops throughout Massachusetts, Maine and southern New Hampshire.

In the new Dunkin’ Donuts TV spot, entitled “Dustin and Goliath,” Pedroia is faced with the challenge of a pinstriped giant on a biblical baseball field. Inspired by the story of David and Goliath, Pedroia takes a sip of his Dunkin’ Donuts Iced Coffee with a shot of espresso and takes down the giant with a ball hit off the mighty swing of his bat. The ad was created by Boston-based Hill Holliday and began airing yesterday.

Fenway Park will host the Dunkin’ Donuts Red Sox Turbo Shot Coffee Break today. Boston-area radio contest winners will get to have breakfast featuring Dunkin’ Donuts menu items at Fenway Park’s State Street Pavilion with Pedroia and Red Sox manager Terry Francona. NESN’s Tom Caron will moderate a Q&A session with Pedroia and Francona. Afterward, winners will get a private tour of Fenway Park.
