Economics ate the newshole

A wide variety of stories attracted the attention of journalist during the week of 1/26/09-2/1/09, but they were all eclipsed by the economic crisis, according to the latest report from the Project for Excellence in Journalism. Overall, econ stories took up almost half of available time and space, leaving things like the still-forming Obama administration, Mideast, weather and Blagojevich stories to divvy up the other half.
