Emmis Inks New Lease at Empire

Emmis CommunicationsEmmis Communications renewed and extended its lease at the Empire State Building. Emmis has had three FMs transmitting from atop the building since 1984.


Empire State Realty Trust owns, operates and manages the iconic building.

The new Emmis lease is for 16 years and calls for slightly less rent — $1.26 million in yearly rent as opposed to $1.74 million.

Empire State Realty Trust President/COO John Kessler looks “forward to continuing our long partnership” with Emmis and says the company remains “focused on renewing our other broadcasters and taking best advantage of our unique presence for all forms of broadcasting and transmission from our location in the middle of Manhattan.”
