As Emmis begins to bring its WQHT-FM HOT-97, WBLS-FM and WLIB-AM under the leadership of Deon Levingston, after the recently announced purchase of YMF Media’s WBLS and WLIB, they’ve decided to hire a new PD for HOT 97. Ebro Darden, who has been VP of Programming for Hot 97 FM, will focus on his co-host role of the Hot 97 Morning Show. He will give up his programming position as soon as a new PD is hired for the position.
Said Hot 97: “Announced today, Ebro Darden, VP of Programming for WQHT Hot 97 FM, will be fully committed to his role as on-air co-host of the HOT 97 Morning Show. Darden will remain as Program Director for WQHT until a viable candidate is found to take over the position. ‘Fortunately, I have had tremendous success doing both on-air and PD roles, and Emmis let me choose where I would be happiest. Mornings, TV & assisting in programming makes sense with everything Hot 97 and I have happening today, so I chose creative over corporate. See you all at 5 a.m. tomorrow,” states Darden’.”
