Emmis Puts An Indy Radio Vet At The Helm

An Indianapolis market veteran who started his career in radio as PD of WFMS-FM 95.5 for former owner Susquehanna Radio Corp. has just been given the keys for Emmis Communications‘ flagship station group.


Bob Richards takes the VP/Market Manager for the company’s four stations in Indianapolis: WFNI-AM 1070 “The Fan,” WYXB-FM “B105.7,” WIBC-FM 93.1 and WLHK-FM 97.1 “Hank FM.”

Richards succeeds Chuck Williams, who had been in the role since August 2016.

Richards has been with Emmis’ Indianapolis operation since 2009 when he was appointed OM. In March 2014, he was promoted to the role of VP/Programming, oversee the entire station group.

Richards’ experience in Indianapolis also includes serving as OM for WFMS-FM, in addition to WJJK-FM and WRWM-FM, for Cumulus Media.

“Bob’s leadership has been instrumental in building our dominant position in the Indianapolis market,” said Emmis President Patrick Walsh. “His reputation for building great teams and winning content strategies is legendary. Concurrently, Emmis/Indianapolis Director of Sales Taja Graham is promoted to VP/Director of Sales for the cluster. She has been with the stations since June 1996, save a short 2003 stint working in marketing for a CPA firm.
