Emmy Award-winner Jordi Vilasuso joins All My Children on ABC

Emmy Award-winning actor Jordi Vilasuso joins the cast of ABC’s daytime drama “All My Children,” playing the role of Dr. Griffin Castillo, it was announced by Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group. Vilasuso was best known for his role as Tony Santos on “Guiding Light.”


“We are excited to welcome Jordi Vilasuso to the ‘All My Children’ family and look forward to introducing a new character on our canvas with Mexican heritage.  With Jordi’s talented portrayal, the entrance of Griffin Castillo to Pine Valley promises to be filled with joy, passion and mystery,” says executive producer, Julie Hanan Carruthers.

In story, Griffin Castillo is a doctor and is originally from Mexico. He comes to the town of Pine Valley after working with doctors without borders on humanitarian missions.

Mr. Vilasuso has extensive television and film roles to his credit.  In television, he won the 2003 Daytime Emmy Award for his portrayal of Tony Santos on “Guiding Light.” He has also guest starred on “CSI: Miami,” “Numb3rs,” “8 Simple Rule,” “Fashion House” and the pilot “No Place Like Home.”  His accomplished film credits include leading roles in “Magic City,”  “La Linea,” “Heights,” “Ready or Not” and “Lost City.”

Born and raised in Miami, FL, Mr. Vilasuso’s parents emigrated from Cuba. He is fluent in Spanish and currently resides in Los Angeles.

“All My Children” celebrated its 40th anniversary on January 5th, 2010.  The program has successfully maintained its popularity and continues to be one of daytime’s most compelling dramas. “All My Children” took home the 1998 Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, the third time the show received this top honor, having also garnered the award in 1994 and 1992. In 2004 the show also received its third consecutive Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series Writing, its third Writers Guild Award and its fourth GLAAD Media Award in March 2007.

Created by Agnes Nixon, “All My Children” premiered on the ABC Television Network on January 5, 1970, as a half-hour show; seven years later it expanded to an hour. Julie Hanan Carruthers is executive producer with David Kreizman and Donna Swajeski as co-head writers. “All My Children” is produced Los Angeles and airs MONDAY-FRIDAY (1:00-2:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
