EntercomNot long after Entercom CEO David Field sent an email to employees in a mid-year update, news has come out of the Sacramento market that some cuts have been made. Longtime KCRA-TV anchor Walt Gray, who left the station in October to join Classic Rock 96.9 The Eagle, as on-air talent was laid off. A number of people across the station lost their jobs, as well—perhaps a format change is near.

“Good people in several departments,” Gray told KCRA. “It was a tough day, and I wish we could have gone on a little bit longer. I understand these are tough times, and they had to make some budget decisions.”

He received the news about 10 a.m. after finishing his show, which he hosts with Kat Maudru.

Gray left the following Facebook post on the public wall of “The Walt Gray Show”: Hey gang…the show was cancelled today after nine months. It was a fun experience and i wished it had worked out differently. Especially sad for Kat after 23 years here. Much luck to all of you and i hope to be back on the air someplace soon. -Walt
