The second shut-down of Editor & Publisher, “The bible of the newspaper industry,” proved to be only a two-week break. Nielsen found a buyer and E&P is back in business.
The new owner is Duncan McIntosh Co. Inc., a publisher based in Irvine, CA whose titles include Boating World magazine; Sea Magazine, America’s Western Boating Magazine; The Log Newspaper; and FishRap.
According to a story posted on the E&P website, Duncan McIntosh has been a 30 year reader and was interested in acquiring the publication from the time he learned in December that Nielsen was shutting it down. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Charles “Chas” McKeown will continue as publisher of E&P. Editor Greg Mitchell did not survive the transition. The new editor is Mark Fitzgerald, formerly editor-at-large at E&P.
A February issue is being prepared as E&P continues its 126th year of operation.
