Anti-health reformers take to the air

Q3 revenues fell 1% for Nielsen
There was no announcement Thursday of a sale of The Nielsen Company's media-oriented magazine group, but CFO Brian West certainly kept the door open for such a sale in his quarterly conference call. Meanwhile, the company reported that total revenues declined 1% in Q3, with the media ratings business up and the publications down - a lot. More...

McDowell supports tax certificates
FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell addressed an FCC sponsored forum on capital formation for small and disadvantaged business. Besides noting that for once, the big boys were having as much trouble scaring up capital as they were, he stated his support for the minority tax certificate and enforcement to combat No Urban and No Hispanic dictates.

Wal-Mart cautious, so is Wall Street
Retail giant issued cautious guidance about holiday sales, saying it is looking for sales to be flat with last year. That was not met by merrymaking on Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 94 points, or 0.9%, to 10,197. As you would expect, the downbeat news from the giant retailer was also a downer for broadcasting stocks.
