Transactions: 2/26/07-3/2/07
Two relatively large television transactions and a small market radio group sale in Missouri brought some fresh air into the trading environment as February segued into March. The CBS-to-Cerberus agreement accounted for most of the value with 185M on the sticker, but helping out was Emmis, finally finding a buyer for its Hawaii TVs, and Dean Goodman, who expanded his new group to the tune of 15 stations.

CBS spinners go to investment group
Another trend, the entry of investment capital into broadcasting, was in evidence this week as Cerberus Capital Management spent 185M for CBS television stations. There's a standalone CBS O&O in Austin, and O&O with full-power satellite in Salt Lake City, a standalone CW affiliate in Providence-New Bedford, and a CW affilite in West Palm Beach with two attached class As, playing MNT and TV Azteca fare.

Goodman makes good on growth promise
Dean Goodman, one of the members in good standing of the new class of broadcast veteran moving into the ownership ranks, came to an agreement with Shepherd Enterprises for 15 radio stations in small Missouri markets. The mix includes three duopoly clusters and one superduopoly. Goodradio.TV LLC will pay 30.6M, including 3M for a non-compete/consulting agreement with seller David L. Shepherd.
