SCBA names John Davison Chairman of Board The Southern California Broadcasters Association's GMs have confirmed John Davison, President/General Manager of ABC Radio as Chairman of the SCBA Board of Directors for the new fiscal year, which began July 1. Other executive board members returning for the 2004/2005 term include Pat Duffy, Vice President/Market Manager, News/Infinity Radio as Vice Chair, Thomas J. McSweeney, Vice President and General Manager/Univision Radio as Secretary, Roy Laughlin, Regional VP/CC Radio as Treasurer and Val Maki-Candido, VP/Emmis Radio, as Immediate Past Chairman. As of 12/25, Premiere Radio Networks will no longer distribute "Leeza Gibbon's Hollywood Confidential" program. Said Kraig Kitchin, Premiere President/COO: "We've enjoyed Leeza's contributions for the last eight years. She's a very talented individual with a lot of passion for radio and we wish her well." John Stossel and Cynthia McFadden to host Labor Day specials on ABC News Radio ABC News Radio will offer two one-hour specials over Labor Day weekend (Thursday, 9/2 through Monday, 9/6): "Myths, Lies and Downright Stupidity with ABC's John Stossel" and "Back to School - The ABC News/Court TV Safety Challenge 2004." "Myths, Lies and Downright Stupidity with ABC's John Stossel" is an attempt to find the truth behind some very common beliefs. ABC News correspondent John Stossel investigated a number of these commonly held beliefs, including . . . Can buying expensive wrinkle cream save your skin? . . . Do strange things happen when the moon is full? . . . Are SUVs safer than cars? The one-hour special "Myths, Lies and Downright Stupidity with ABC's John Stossel" will answer those questions and more. "Back to School - The ABC News/Court TV Safety Challenge 2004," hosted by ABC News Senior Legal Correspondent Cynthia McFadden, looks at the back-to-school season and how to make it safe. CMA names nominees for 2004 CMA Awards The final list of nominees for "The 38th Annual CMA Awards" is an across-the-board collection of hard-core traditionalists, Country Music hitmakers, sentimental favorites and mainstream innovators with a healthy dose of up-and-comers added to the mix. "The 38th Annual CMA Awards" will be broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tuesday, 11/9 (8:00-11:00 PM; live ET/delayed PT) on CBS. For the first time in the history of the CMA Awards, the announcement of the final nominees was carried live on network and cable television from New York during "The Early Show" with CBS Anchor Hannah Storm and Country Music icon Kris Kristofferson; and on "CMT Insider: CMA Special Edition" with host Katie Cook and artist guests Gretchen Wilson and Big & Rich on CMT from Nashville.
