ABC News Radio expands sports coverage
ABC News Radio announced the launch of Sports Access, significantly expanding the organization's sports news coverage. The new service will begin on 9/5, and will be available exclusively to affiliate stations. Sports Access combines the resources of ABC Sports Radio and ESPN to deliver audio broadcasts featuring interviews with ABC Sports and ESPN correspondents, live feeds of notable press conferences, breaking coverage of sports news, and special events.
"Sports Access" will include commentary and live reports from sports broadcasters such as Mike Tirico, Bill Walton, Hubie Brown and Michele Tafoya. Coverage will span the major sports events at both college and professional levels - including NCAA football and basketball, motor racing, golf and most pro leagues - as well as correspondents and special sports news coverage from the Olympics.
Duke and The Doctor add six
Syndicated health program Duke and The Doctor has entered into an agreement with South Carolina-based Wilkins Communications to run the show on six stations. WWNL/Pittsburgh, WSKY/Asheville, WBXR/Huntsville, WQXA/York, WELP/Greenville and KXKS/Albuquerque will air the program hosted by Duke Liberatore and Jan McBarron, MD weekdays. The Duke and The Doctor show is a blend of practical medical information and recommendations on vitamins, supplements, herbs and lifestyle changes.
XM adds Reggaeton
XM Satellite Radio has tweaked its Latin music hits channel Allegria, to a majority of Reggaeton tunes, the increasingly popular Latin hip-hop/reggae hybrid.
New programs will include International Music Feed's reggaeton show "IMF Bodega Beats," hosted by artist B-Real of Cypress Hill.
