Beasley announces winners of annual ops awards

Beasley Broadcast Group announced the winners of its annual operating awards. This year's honors, presented at the Company's annual gathering of General Managers, include:

Brad Beasley - Market Manager of the Year

Robert Hallman - Sales Manager of the Year

Jeff Anderson - Program Director of the Year

WXTU-FM - Radio Station of the Year

Brad Beasley, is Market Manager of the company's five-station Ft. Myers-Naples cluster, has helped his station group consistently exceed internal cash flow growth targets, grow revenues faster than the fast-growing market at-large, and expand its market revenue share in the first six months of 2005.

Robert Hallman, GSM for the company's Ft. Myers cluster, has also supported the cluster's success, transforming its ratings performance into double-digit local and national sales increases during the first six months of 2005 (Miller Kaplan).

Jeff Anderson, PD of WZFX-FM and WUKS-FM in Fayetteville, NC, was selected as for WZFX-FM's consistent ratings leadership and expense discipline over the past 12 months. WXTU-FM Philadelphia was selected as Station of the Year for its all-around revenue, ratings and cash flow performance.

XM and Audible launch the XM Audible Store

Audible, a major provider of digitally delivered spoken audio, and XM Satellite Radio announced the launch of the "XM Audible Store" featuring exclusive XM programming available for individual purchase or download subscription. "The Bob Edwards Show" and "Opie and Anthony" are among 25,000 audio books, audio magazines, newspapers and radio programs available for download to more than 160 digital media players and mobile devices through the XM Audible Store.

Dick Clark plans New Year's TV return

Dick Clark plans to return to the airwaves and Times Square for his annual New Year's Eve broadcast, one year after he was sidelined by a stroke. Clark, 75, will co-host the upcoming 34th edition of his "New Year's Rockin' Eve" telecast on ABC with Ryan Seacrest. Seacrest, who anchored a rival New Year's Eve show on Fox last year and in 2002, has signed a multiyear deal to share hosting duties with Clark on the ABC broadcast and eventually take over as its sole host, according to Reuters.

"It will be good to be back in New York again for New Year's, and I'm elated that Ryan has agreed to join me in ushering in New Year's on America's favorite holiday special," Clark said in a statement.

Rusty Humphries Show broadcasting from Guantanamo Bay

Talk Radio Network's Rusty Humphries is spending this week as a military observer at the U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay Detention Center, Cuba. While there, he will be broadcasting live and has made himself available as a guest on other national talk programs to discuss his observations while visiting the naval base. Humphries' show is heard live 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Pacific (9:00 p.m. to 12:00 Eastern) on over 200 stations nationwide.

Armed with a satellite phone and a digital recorder, Humphries said, "I'm very excited to see for myself what so many people are speculating about and I will honestly report my observations directly to my audience."
