The article picking Rush Limbaugh as the worst person of the day (
8/23/05 RBR #165) is wrong in picking him because of words he said on August 15. I was listening to the program that day and he did not say what was reported on the Keith Olbermann show. Olbermann was picking up on words used on a Sunday news program by a Democratic operative. On August 15, Rush first expressed sorrow for Cindy Sheehan loosing her son and she had every right to be protesting... he then stated she was being used by the left just as they used Bill Burkitt and they are using her just like the forged documents.

If you listened to the program you still may not agree with the conclusion but at least you will hear the comments in context. Instead, commentators are using comments made by other commentators to make outlandish charges.

I heard an operative say on a Sunday Program that a mother who lost a son in Iraq has absolute moral authority when referring to Cindy Sheehan. If that's true, then the mother who lost a son and disagrees with Cindy Sheehan (and there are many ) must also have absolute moral authority. So which one is right?

It's amazing that the only mother that the media is concentrating on is Cindy Sheehan because she is sitting at the Texas Whitehouse. The President did meet with her once. She did not like what he said. If President Bush meets with her, what kind of precedent is he setting for every other President when a there is a protestor? Does a President have to meet with every protestor - - or just some?

There is no draft, so unlike Vietnam, when Democratic President Johnson sent young men against their will to Vietnam, today soldiers are Volunteers. Comments from Sheehan seem to indicate that President Bush was forcing these men and women into service when they actually volunteered. Brave men and women who put themselves on the line so that people like Keith Olbermann are free to misquote people he does not agree with.

If you are going to pick someone for an award for what they said, at least get what they said right. Don't lie about the comments. Get the tape and listen to the August 15 show. As I said, you still may not agree with him, but at least you will know taken in context, what he said makes sense to many, many people.
