The sale of KNOE-TV in Monroe-El Dorado not only broke a June television trading slump, it also propelled the week to the top of the June heap. In fact, more value was created in the final week of June than was created during the rest of the month, much like last week's top radio trade equalled the rest of the month's dealing up to that point. But the combined total for all of June was lower than the slowest single week in May. Whaddaya know about KNOE?
What we know is that that the Noe family is extricating itself from the broadcasting business in general, and the Monroe LA-El Dorado AR market in particular. Hoak Media gets CBS 8 KNOE-TV for 47M in the top television transaction of the week, and the month, for that matter.
Radio Deal of the Week
Lotus helps Peak stay focused
Not every English-oriented broadcasting outfit is comfortable with running an Hispanic station, and Todd Lawley's Peak Broadcasting seems to be one of them. It's pruning its recently-acquired Fresno cluster by sending KOQO-FM to a local Hispanic operator, veteran Howard Kalmenson's Lotus Communications, for 8.4M.
