It's easy to set records for the year in the early going, and the first full week of February has now become the one to beat for station volume. The 45 stations changing hands blows away last week's total of 26. But the total dollar value pales in comparison, lacking a mega-market swap like Bonneville/Entercom. Chris Devine accounted for 31 of the stations traded all by himself, helping Clear Channel with its small market divestiture.

TV Deal of the Week
Youngstown TV parked with Parkin
ABC WYTV-TV 33 in Youngstown is going from Chelsey Broadcasting to Todd Parkin's Parkin Broadcasting. It has a bonus network, the very young MNT, on a digital side-channel, and carries the option of entering into an SSA/option with New Vision Television.

Radio Deal of the Week
Devine clears out portfolio
Chris Devine and his Blue Point Media cleared out part of Clear Channel's portfolio, anyway, getting 31 stations for 45.7M. The group purchase includes 19 in Montana, eight in Idaho and four in Minnesota. Most of the stations rated by either Arbitron or Eastlan.
