ABC News Radio details Memorial Day offerings
ABC News Radio will offer affiliates a selection of four one-hour specials for broadcast over the Memorial Day weekend:
"Real Life Desperate Housewives with ABC's John Stossel."
ABC's John Stossel reports on some every day desperate housewives from around the country. This one hour special will include advice on how to deal with domestic issues, including a satirical look at family life in America...and a gander at the alternative lifestyle of "swinging."
"Behind the Wheel: The ABC News Radio / Court TV Safety Challenge"
A one-hour look at how to avoid driving disasters this upcoming summer travel season. This one hour special explores driving in extreme weather conditions, confronting road rage, and keeping children safe in the car.
"Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith"
The broadcast will review the final installation in the "Star Wars" series, with the low-down on "Revenge of the Sith." The one-hour special, anchored by ABC News Correspondent Aaron Katersky, will include a variety of celebrities discussing their favorite "Star Wars" moments and a discussion with "Star Wars" creator George Lucas.
"The ABC News Radio/Consumer Reports Summer Guide 2005."
Anchored by ABC News Special Correspondent Gil Gross, it will include money-saving tips for the family road trip, what's needed to enjoy outdoor living, how to stay cool during the hot months of summer, and the latest in summer toys.
Imus officially dumps Sid
WFAN-AM sportscaster Sid Rosenberg has been bounced from Don Imus' show joking about breast cancer (5/25 RBR #102). Rosenberg had been mysteriously AWOL from Imus' show since last Wednesday when he stunned listeners and viewers of the MSNBC simulcast by mocking singer Kylie Minogue's breast cancer diagnosis: "She won't look so pretty when she's bald with one t***y," Rosenberg said. Rosenberg will keep his midday talker with Joe Benigno and Giants game day broadcasts. He also plans to donate one week's salary to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Michael Savage gets strong Winter ratings
Talk Radio Network's The Michael Savage Show showed strong ratings in the Winter Book. "As Michael continues to challenge his audience and himself, the show and the ratings will just continue to grow," says Mark Masters, TRN CEO. At WOR-AM NY, Savage leads the station with a 3.5 share 12+ in "The Big Apple" and a 2.2 share 25/54, 3.2 share 35/64 demo's. At KRLA-AM LA, Savage saw significant Winter rating increases, 60% in 25/54, 38% in 35/64, and 33% in the 12+ demo. In Boston at WRKO Savage's Winter 12+ demo increased 28% to a 5.5 share, the 25/54 demo was up 59% to a 4.3 share and the 35/64 demo was up 50% to a 6.0 share. KDWN-AM Las Vegas saw Savage up 70% in 12+ to a 4.6 share, up 167% in 25/54 to a 5.6 share, and up 192% in 35/64 to a 7.6 share. WHAM-AM Rochester, NY scored a very hefty 19 share 35/64 and an equally impressive 15 share 25/54.
