Tom Joyner is organizing a major "March to Vote" rally in Miami on 10/29, just four days before the general election on 11/2. In an effort to significantly increase the number of early voters, Joyner is calling on Miami-Dade residents to join him in casting their votes immediately following his Southwest Airlines Sky Show taking place that morning at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach.

"You know everybody has their eyes on Florida," said Joyner, who was recognized by Newsday as one of the nation's most influential political voices in the country. "And I want to make sure everybody whose registered comes out to vote... and that they come out to vote early."

Numerous local and national GOTV efforts (Unity '04 and NAACP), major celebrities, and the Northwestern High School Marching Band will march voters from the theater to the neighboring Miami Beach City Hall, where there will be voting booths and election officials on site.

Mike & Mike receive award from NYSARC

ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike in the Morning show was presented with the "Broadcast - Human Interest" award from the New York State Association for Retarded Children (NYSARC) for a May 25, 2004 interview with Special Olympian Fred Siegel and NFL Hall-of-Famer and former Buffalo Bill Joe DeLamielleure. Nominated by Heritage Centers (the Erie County, New York chapter of NYSARC), the live interview, conducted by show hosts Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg, reunited Siegel, a struggling runner at his local Erie County 1979 Special Olympics, and volunteer DeLamielleure, whose encouragement that day spurred Siegel to win the gold medal at the 1983 International Special Olympics. Mike & Mike producer Justin Craig received the award 10/16 at the 55th Annual NYSARC Convention in Buffalo.
