Focus on digital

The impact of digital technology on the radio and television industry will be the theme of 2006 New Jersey Broadcasters Association/Mid-Atlantic Broadcasters Conference set for June 5-6 at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Atlantic city, NJ. The conference program, co-chaired by John Mozes of Nassau Broadcasting and Dan Spears of BMI, will concentrate on assisting sales, programming, engineering and management personnel in the transition to HD broadcast technology. For example, station engineers will learn how to build an HD station from the ground up while sales staffs will be shown how to cope with tripling of competition from sub channel broadcasts and the challenge of selling triple the inventory. Management will learn how to confront the obstacles posed by sub channel broadcasting, streaming audio and podcasting.

ABCRN debuts new website

ABC Radio Networks has debuted ABCRadio.com, signaling the first in a series of new consumer and advertiser-friendly improvements to the company's online presence. The redesigned website incorporates new features that provide a central location for listeners, advertisers and affiliates to obtain complete information related to all of ABC Radio Networks News/Talk, Sports, Music & Entertainment, and Urban & Hispanic programming.

"With its exciting new design, ABCRadio.com has created what is probably the most comprehensive and complete website in network radio," said Marc Horine, Senior Director of New Media, ABC Radio Networks. "The improvements to the site reflect our commitment to enhancing the listening experience of our audience and serve as the complete online portal for all of ABC Radio Networks' programs and offerings."

The website features a number of new enhancements for visitors including an ABC/ESPN Radio podcasting directory and free on-demand streaming audio clips from most ABC Radio Networks programs. Visitors also have access to an affiliate search tool which locates area radio stations that broadcast ABC Radio Networks shows. The new site also includes new sections dedicated to advertisers and affiliates, including links to all ABC Radio Networks owned and operated stations and advertising sales information.
