Transactions: 8/13/07-8/17/07

Television trading is keeping the value of station transactions at least mildly respectable, but it remains a very slow market. Most of the value this week came two from transactions that simply turned LMAs into non-duopoly ownership situations as part of the Ion-to-CIG mega deal from the prior spring (see below). Only five radio deals for six stations were even filed.

TV Deal of the Week
Ion ties itself with twin deals
Ion Media did a little housekeeping, taking a couple of long-time LMAs and turning them into O&Os, to be flipped over to CIG Media with the rest of the Ion portfolio. WPXX-TV Memphis TN & WPXL-TV New Orleans LA each made the switch to full-fledged Ion property for 18M apiece, sending a total of 36M to seller Flinn Broadcasting Corporation. The LMAs date back to 1998.

Radio Deal of the Week
WCAP caps all radio dealing
Clark Smidt's Merrimack Valley Radio LLC is getting WCAP-AM in Lowell MA from Northeast Radio Inc. for 2.66M, keeping alive a trend in which a relatively modest transaction price tag is all it takes to command this space in a given week.
