Transactions: 8/27/07-8/31/07
Radio trading took advantage of its final August opportunity to break through the 10M-per-week barrier, but it wasn't able to get all the way to 20M, although it came close. Three small television transactions just about evened out the weekly action between the two media. A big bulge in the number of stations traded was the result of a dispute settlement between two noncommercial religious broadcasters, including numerous CPs, to which we did not attempt to attach an estimated value.

TV Deal of the Week
Multicultural breaks into television
Known for its fleet of brokered Ethnic stations, Arthur Liu's Multicultural Broadcasting is getting a TV station, Channel 64 indy KHIZ-TV. It's part of the Los Angeles DMA, where Liu has many of those radio stations, but don't be fooled. It's licensed to Barstow, which isn't exactly a close-in suburb. The price is just south of 7.95M.
Radio Deal of the Week
Armada sets sail for Kansas
Armada does not operate anywhere near an ocean, now that we think of it, but the group is expanding steadily, following its m.o. of going for community stations in unrated Midwestern areas. This week it leads the pack with the 9.5M acquisition of the Ingstad family's KBUF-AM Holcomb KS, KULY-AM Ulysses KS, KKJQ-FM Garden City KS, KSKZ-FM Copeland, KSSA-FM Ingalls, KWKR-FM Leoti, KFXX-FM Hugoton & KSKL-FM Scott City KS.
