Equity donates an LPTV

Not everything is being sold in the Equity Media Holdings Corporation fire sale – some of the inventory is simply being moved. A low power facility in Kalispell MT, part of the Missoula DMA, is going to Montana State University – but the two parties will need the FCC to spring KEXI-LP back to life.

That’s because EMHC turned in the license back on 7/17/09 and the FCC took it of play. Exactly one month later, EMHC applied to have it reinstated for the noble purpose of providing the city of Kalispell with its first local public television service via the University.

MSU will reimburse EMHC up to $5K for costs incurred in reviving the station, but it’s going into the books as a straight donation.

The University says it intends to rebroadcast its KUSM-TV Bozeman over the station if and when it is in its possession.
