“eRockster” shows some real promise

Clear Channel’s fairly new HD multicast format in Washington, “eRockster,” (DC-101–WWDC-HD2) is, in our opinion, a great solution to dull, overplayed radio. This Format Lab-hatched playlist (Hitting the 18-34 crowd) features an ever-evolving 5,000+ song music library. Also airing in LA on KYSR-HD2 and in Philly on WRFF-HD2, the vast majority of tunes are Indie Rock, however Classic Alternative, some Beatles, Classic Psychedelic Rock, Classic Hip Hop, etc. are peppered in as well.

This is a very respectable format from CC Radio–along with its “Undies” Indie Rock format in Houston, Syracuse, Little Rock, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Raleigh, San Jose and Portland, OR.  We’re happy to see them both on the airwaves!

eRockster is a bit like www.dataheaven.us, where listeners control what’s played. It’s refreshing to see terrestrial radio take such a giant leap and eRockster should really take the main signal at many CC Radio stations—especially because of its opt-in interactivity and membership base.

Here’s the DC-101 weblink, which allows a live Internet listen.
