Erwin Krasnow to receive Quaal Award

Washington-based communications attorney Erwin G. Krasnow of Garvey Schubert Barer will be receiving the 2011 Ward L. Quaal Pioneer Award at the NAB convention in Las Vegas Wednesday 4/13/11. In addition to his many other activities and responsibilities, Krasnow is a frequent contributor to RBR-TVBR.


Among Krasnow’s published works is “Profitably Buying and Selling Broadcast Stations,” which came out in 2009. He was formerly on the staff of US Rep. Torbert Macdonald of Massachusetts, and was senior vice president and general counsel of the National Association of Broadcasters. Krasnow is also a founding director and vice chair of minority broadcast investment fund Broadcast Capital Inc. and is counsel to the Media Financial Management Association.

Previous winners of the Quaal Award include John Dille, president, Federated Media; Andrew Fisher, president, Cox Television (retired); Richard Ferguson, founder, New City Communications and EVP, Cox Radio (retired); Robert F.X. Sillerman, the largest shareholder of CKX, Inc. (owner and producer of American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance); and Dennis Swanson, president, station operations, Fox Television Stations Inc.
