Estrella TV Arrives In Wichita Via Multicast Deal

LBI Media’s Spanish-language Estrella TV broadcast TV network has landed its newest affiliate.

The agreement brings it to Wichita, via a digital multicast agreement with a local owner.

Starting this week, local Hispanics in the Kansas market can view Estrella TV programming via KCTU-43.2.

The channel is owned by River City Broadcasting and features eight multicast offerings. This TV airs on its main broadcast channel; other DT offerings tied to KCTU include Tuff TV, Charge!, and TheCoolTV, among other multicast networks.

With the Wichita addition, Estrella TV now has 48 affiliates across the U.S.

“Adding KCTU as a new affiliate is a clear indication of Estrella TV’s momentum and rapid expansion, as well as its growing influence as a leading Spanish-language broadcasting company that offers high quality and relevant content to Hispanics living in the U.S.,” said Cathy Lewis Edgerton, SVP/Distribution and Affiliate Sales for LBI Media.

It is not known if KCTU-43.2 will be carried on AT&T U-Verse or local Cox Communications systems. KCTU’s main This TV programming is on Channel 43 on U-Verse; Cox does not carry the channel as it is not qualified for “must carry” status in Wichita.
