Police drama “Flashpoint” is moving to the 10 pm (ET/PT) Thursday slot on CBS, bumping “Swingtown” to the former Flashpoint position at 10 pm Friday. The flip is effective immediately, so the flip will take place this Thursday and Friday.
The move to the prized Thursday night position reflects the strong showing by Flashpoint in its first two outings. CBS notes that the one hour drama about a police Strategic Response Unit has won its time period in all key measures in both of its Friday broadcasts, averaging 7.62 million viewers, 1.7/6 in adults 18-49 and 2.4/7 in adults 25-54. It has built on its NUMB3RS lead-in by +16% in viewers, +21% in adults 18-49 and +26% in adults 25-54.
Meanwhile, Swingtown is averaging 6.52 million viewers, 2.2/7 in adults 18-49 and 2.7/8 in adults 25-54.
RBR/TVBR observation: We would also note that a hot police show is an easier pitch to advertisers than a show about suburban wife-swapping in the 1970s.
