FacebookIn point of fact, social media giant Facebook and former FCC Chair Kevin Martin have been together for a couple of years. But now Martin is headed to the company as a fulltime employee.

Martin has been acting as a consultant for the company for the past two years.

He was a Republican member of the FCC and was appointed Chairman in 2005 by President George W. Bush. He exited in 2009 at the beginning of the Barack Obama administration.

Facebook’s Joel Kaplan stated, “Kevin’s deep experience in technology and communications policy, along with his creativity and strategic vision have already proven invaluable to our mission to connect the world and we are thrilled he is joining the Facebook team full-time.”

Martin’s predecessor at the top of the FCC was Michael Powell, who also took a job in the biz – he is currently President/CEO of cable advocacy NCTA.
