White House staffer Ben LaBolt has told Foxnews.com that the President remains firmly against reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine, just as he stated during the campaign. The repeat was necessary to counteract an ambiguous earlier statement on the matter that came from advisor David Axelrod, to the effect that the issue may be left for incoming FCC Chair Julius Genachowski.
RBR/TVBR observation: So if Congress passes the Fairness Doctrine or something like it, it figues to run into a presidential veto before it ever gets to the courts. Will that tone down the debate? Naaaaaahhhhhh, probably not.
