So just what will your television station’s call letters be once the DTV transition is official. Currently, there are three general possibilities. It can be a set of letters with no suffix, a set of letters followed by “-TV,” or a set of letters followed by “-DT.” The good news is you can settle on whichever version you want.
The call letters in use on the licensee’s analog station will be the default calls going forward, so stations wishing to retain them need take no further action.
And if you want to change, the FCC says, “Stations that want to use the ‘-DT’ suffix rather than their analog call sign may elect to do so without charge through the Commission’s on-line call sign authorization and reservation system after they have completed their permanent transition to digital service.”
