The NPRM on incentive auctions of television spectrum was released 10/2/12 and carried a comment deadline of 12/21/12. NAB and CTIA asked for more time, and the FCC has granted most of the time they wanted.
The original calendar, in addition to the comment deadline, had a 2/19/13 deadline for reply comments.
“On November 20, 2012, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and CTIA – The Wireless Association (CTIA) filed a joint request to extend the comment and reply comment deadlines to January 25, 2013 and March 26, 2013,” stated the FCC. “NAB and CTIA state that an extension of time is warranted due to the complex economic, engineering, and policy issues presented by the NPRM.”
The Commission agreed that more time is warranted for both, but did not go all the way with the NAB/CTIA request. It did extend the comment period until 1/25/13, but the gap between that and the reply comment deadline will be two weeks shorter. Reply comments will be due 3/12/13.
