FCC locks down June agenda

A short-handed contingent of FCC commissioners will convene the June Open Meeting on Thursday 6/9/11, and as RBR-TVBR reported earlier, the assembled regulators will not trouble vacationing broadcasters with any items of particular relevance to their own business operations.

The meeting will start at 10:30 AM, and will be the first held without Meredith Baker, who is on her way to a Washington gig with Comcast/NBCU. That leaves Robert McDowell as the lone Republican. He’ll share center stage with Democratis Chairman Julius Genachowski and fellow commissioners Michael Copps and Mignon Clyburn.

The first item concerns wireline competition and the second is a technical matter concerning international satellite policy.

We won’t trouble you with the details. And here is a word of warning to those of you who just may have an interest in one or both of these issues. We have many fish to fry, and so does the FCC – but they aren’t always the same fish. This will be one of those occasions, and we will be fishing for stories elsewhere on Thursday 6/9/11 – so if you thirst for an in-depth report on these particular proceedings, you too will need to fish elsewhere to find it.
